Social media ‘causing panic attacks in children’

-

Children as young as four are having panic attacks as three quarters of teachers blame social media for a rise in anxiety.

Almost all teachers say they have come into contact with pupils who are experiencing mental health issues.

They were most likely to be teenagers, but 18 per cent of teachers polled by the NASUWT teaching union ahead of its annual conference in Manchester said they had been in contact with four to seven-year-olds showing mental health issues, and 35 per cent had seen problems in youngsters aged seven to 11.
