Trudeau to legalise recreational marijuana
Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau’s government introduced legislation yesterday to allow adults to possess 30g of marijuana in public.
It is a measure that will make Canada the largest developed country to end its nationwide prohibition on recreational marijuana.
Mr Trudeau had long promised to legalise recreational weed use and sales. The proposed law allows four marijuana plants to be grown at home.
Those under 18 years of age found with small amounts of marijuana would not face any criminal charges.
