Decline and scrawl

-

sir – It’s perfectly normal for youngsters to have untidy handwriting, as they are still learning (Features, April 13).

However, plenty of adults these days could be more careful when using a pen. No one seems able to write in a cursive script any more without rushing into a scribble.

Most children will slowly improve with practice, but when they leave school their handwriting deteriorates. In this computer age, we’re losing control of our hands and fingers to the point where the skills we had as children are being lost. Emilie Lamplough Trowbridge, Wiltshire
