Police fined after losing DVD of sex crime victims

A police force has been fined £150,000 for breaching data protection law after DVDs containing footage of interviews with victims of violent or sexual crimes was lost in the post.

Greater Manchester Police sent the unencrypte­d DVDs to the National Crime Agency by recorded delivery but they were never received. Asst Chief Constable Rob Potts, of GMP, said it followed national guidelines, which have since been updated.
