Just a few days ago, this Cumbrian river that runs through the wettest inhabited spot in England was left “bone dry” (top) after an early spring and the driest winter in 20 years. Now the Derwent, in Seathwaite, is in full flow again after wet and windy weather affected northern regions of the UK in the past few days.
