TV format Paxman let loose on Corbyn for the first time

Jeremy Corbyn will be grilled by Jeremy Paxman for the first time on national television.

The Labour leader, along with Theresa May, the Prime Minister, has agreed to be interviewed live on Sky News and Channel 4 on May 29.

Each leader will be quizzed for 45 minutes – taking questions from an invited audience and then the former Newsnight presenter. In his memoir, Mr Paxman said he once asked Mrs May “Are those f ***-me shoes?”

Discussing the encounter last year, he said: “I bet you Theresa May has no recollection.”

Channel 4 sources confirmed Mr Paxman had never before interviewed Mr Corbyn although he has interviewed Mrs May.
