Car thieves foiled

SIR – Thursday’s edition of the BBC’S The One Show highlighted the use of electronic devices to boost the signal of remote-locking car keys even when these keys are remote from the car – that is to say, in the house. Such a device may therefore allow thieves to gain access to the car without stealing the keys.

A simple remedy is to place the car keys within the house in a suitable container with a lid, both of which have been lined with aluminium foil. Lt-cdr Robert Linley-munro (retd) East Preston, West Sussex
