Petrol price war is drivers’ gain

-

A new petrol pump price war has led supermarkets to cut the cost of petrol and diesel by 2p, following a fall in wholesale prices.

Yesterday Asda lowered its price cap on fuel by up to 2p per litre, meaning motorists are now paying no more than 111.7p per litre. The move was followed by similar cuts at Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons. Motoring experts described the cut in pump prices as “excellent news” for consumers at a time when prices are rising in shops.
