Longleat safari eyes parking spot in Las Vegas
LONGLEAT Safari Park is planning possible new ventures in China, New York and even Las Vegas, Viscount Weymouth has disclosed, as his wife signs up for an American lifestyle show.
Ceawlin Thynn, Viscount Weymouth, said he had explored opening a version of the park in Las Vegas, and a replica of Longleat house in China.
Saying the history of Longleat and his colourful family had helped to woo potential clientele worldwide, Lord Weymouth joked that he did “nothing to disabuse” foreign misconceptions that they must be related to royalty. Speaking at the China Exchange, in central London, the Viscountess disclosed that the family also had several potential television shows “on the burner”, including one American lifestyle programme focusing on her. Lady Weymouth, a mother-of-two who will become Britain’s first black marchioness, said the documentary-makers behind the as-yet-unconfirmed project would follow her getting to grips with the Longleat “brand”, with a “bit of risk” thrown in.
Lord Weymouth said they were looking for areas that could replicate Longleat authentically, even in Las Vegas.
“We did have a business trip a couple of years ago, not to recreate Longleat but to potentially provide an immersive animal attraction as an add-on to one of the hotels that can no longer rely on the gambling business,” he said.
