Questions for Labour MP who missed pay vote
Former shadow defence secretary Clive Lewis was under pressure yesterday to explain why he was the only Labour MP not to vote on the party’s amendment to scrap the public sector pay cap this week.
Mr Lewis was not given permission to miss the vote but failed to turn up, a serious offence for MPS. It is understood Mr Lewis was feeling unwell and went out to buy paracetamol from a nearby chemist. The amendment was lost by 14 votes.
