Wolf shot dead after wildlife park escape
A wolf had to be shot dead after she escaped from a wildlife park. The three-year-old female Eurasian wolf could not be tranquillised by staff because she was out of range.
Visitors at the Cotswold Wildlife Park in Oxfordshire had to stay indoors after the animal, called Ember, ventured beyond the perimeter fence.
Ember had arrived at the park last year and only this month gave birth to five cubs – the first ever to be born at the park.
A spokesman for the park said an “emergency plan” was put into place when keepers discovered she was not in her enclosure on Friday morning, and at no time were visitors in danger.
