Two more Germans held by Turks for failed coup

-

Two more German citizens have been arrested in Turkey “for political reasons”, Berlin said yesterday, bringing the total in custody to 12.

Germany was not officially informed of the detentions at Antalya Airport on Thursday, leaving Berlin’s consulate in Izmir to learn of their arrest from “non-state sources”, a spokesman said.

Europeans have been accused of being part of last year’s failed coup against Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the president.
