THE Duchess of Cornwall’s former husband and his fellow business directors are being sued for thousands of pounds in damages by a woman who was raped by a security guard they employed to look after the block of flats where she lived.

Andrew Parker Bowles is one of the directors of the security company now being sued for negligence by the guard’s victim.

The woman was raped by James Kamara, who had been hired by Profile Security Services to guard the residen- tial complex where she lived in west London.

The attack, which took place in the early hours of the morning in February 2014, left her suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.

In the weeks and months that followed the rape, which took place at what should have been a place of safety, she started drinking heavily and, according to a psychiatric report, began to display “anxiety and behavioural problems”.

A writ lodged with the High Court claims that the long-term impact of the attack made it difficult for her to pursue her career or to work normally, leaving her “handicapped on the open labour market”.

The woman, a university graduate in her late 30s, accuses Profile Security Services of being liable for Kamara’s actions on the grounds he was one of the firm’s employees. In May 2015 Kamara was convicted of raping the young woman and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Brigadier Parker Bowles and fellow directors are being held “vicariously liable” to the victim “for the actions of the assailant”, according to the writ.

Profile Security Services, based in Wandsworth, south west London, has admitted liability for the injuries she suffered as a result of the attack.

The writ states: “As a consequence of the matters described and in respect of which the defendant [Profile Security Services] is vicariously liable, and/or as a result of negligence on the part of the defendant associated with the assault’s occurrence, the claimant [the woman] has suffered injury, loss and damage.”

Brigadier Parker Bowles is one of six directors of Profile Security Services, which advertises its services as including 24-hour guarding of premises along with “friendly yet attentive concierge and reception staff ”.

Profile Security Services declined to comment.
