We are two people in love: Meghan on her Harry
THEY HAVE gone to the greatest lengths to keep their budding romance under wraps to date, flying across the Atlantic for a private love affair lasting more than a year.
But there can now be little doubt that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in a serious relationship after the American actress publicly declared: “We’re in love.”
Ms Markle, who has been dating the Prince for 14 months, has unveiled the couple’s commitment in a thoroughly modern fashion, in an interview with a US magazine in which she refers to him as her “boyfriend”.
It is the first time she has spoken publicly of their relationship since they were introduced by friends in London in July 2016.
The candid interview immediately inspired speculation that the pair would soon announce their engagement, following a romantic summer holiday in Africa, and the Prince speaking frankly about being in a “good place”.
Prince Harry, who is fifth in line to the throne until his new niece or nephew is born next year, must seek permission from the Queen before any impending Royal wedding can be announced.
The interview, with Vanity Fair, is understood to have been conducted with the blessing of Prince Harry, with Kensington Palace aware that it would be coming out.
In it, Ms Markle describes how she and the Prince have relished “our time” together. She said: “Personally, I love a great love story.
“We’re two people who are really happy and in love.”
