‘Slave master’ locked Polish victims in his attic

A man who locked his “vulnerable” Polish victims in a loft and forced one to work 20 hours a day making greetings cards has been jailed for modern slavery offences.

Edward Zielinski, 42, exploited the two Polish nationals at his home.

Between May 2013 and June 2017, the two men – both described as “vulnerable”, unemployed, alcohol dependent and unable to speak English – were forced to urinate in bottles and one was made to work up to 20 hours a day. Zielinski, of Hyson Green, Nottingham, admitted two charges of human trafficking and was jailed for 40 months at Nottingham Crown Court.
