Documentary: Blind Man Roams the Globe
WORLD SERVICE, 11.30AM
Peter White, the BBC’S disability affairs correspondent, has been blind since birth, and so has a remarkable ability to pick out sounds that sighted people might never notice. In this brilliant series, he takes listeners on audio tours of a few big cities, as perceived by his finely tuned ears. Today’s episode focuses on Berlin, and contains – among other things – the sounds of a cavernous Stasi prison, an energetically cosmopolitan shopping street and some hilariously spluttering Soviet-era automobiles.
