Northern MPS to make voice heard in London
A Government minister is backing a new parliamentary group of northern England MPS to give the North a bigger voice in Westminster.
Jake Berry, a minister for the Northern Powerhouse, which aims to reposition the economy away from London and the South East, said the coalition of MPS would help turn the North into a “globally recognised economy”. Its all-party parliamentary group (APPG) aims to raise awareness of issues affecting the North and attract investment. John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle and APPG chairman, said: “I am looking forward to driving this initiative in Parliament.”
