In memoriam: The Duke of Richmond and Gordon

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were represente­d by Mrs Susan Pyper, Lord-lieutenant for West Sussex, at a service of thanksgivi­ng for the life of the Duke of Richmond and Gordon held on Saturday in Chichester Cathedral.

The Duke of Kent, also representi­ng the Duchess of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra were present.

The Dean of Chichester, the Very Rev Stephen Waine, officiated and the Bishop of Chichester officiated at Holy Communion. Lady Louisa Collings (daughter) and the Duke of Richmond (son) read the lessons.

Ms Naomi March (daughter) read If by Rudyard Kipling and the Earl of March and Kinrara (grandson) read Turn Again to Lie by Mary Lee Hall. Sir Peter Hordern paid tribute to the Duke and the Very Rev Nicholas Frayling, Dean Emeritus of Chichester gave an address. Canon David Parker led the intercessi­ons.

The High Sheriff of West Sussex, Lady Emma Barnard attended.
