Battle for Britain’s past
SIR – My heart sank when I read of Transport for London’s decision to remove a noticeboard message in Dollis Hill Underground station that referred to the famous battle of Rorke’s Drift and the bravery of 11 British soldiers who were awarded the Victoria Cross (report, January 25).
The message was in no way celebratory, but after one complaint it was deleted. This is yet another ideological sacrifice on the altar of political correctness. Is all of our history to be whitewashed?
