PO pension payment

-

SIR – I have had my state pension paid into a Post Office account since becoming eligible. This is partly because my nearest Post Office is two miles away from my home and the nearest bank over 10 miles distant, but also because I wanted to do my bit towards keeping Post Offices open.

Edward Howell (Letters, February 5) should refuse to give the Department of Work and Pensions his bank details, so that they will be obliged to continue crediting his Post Office account with his pension. Nigel Milliner

SIR – It’s not just Post Office card accounts that customers can access at our branches. Even if they move from a Post Office card account, they will be able to access their high street bank account through any Post Office branch.

In fact, 99 per cent of individual customers and 95 per cent of small businesses can do their banking through the Post Office.

For customers of all the United Kingdom’s high street banks, we offer the largest fee-free cash withdrawal network. Customers can also deposit cash and cheques, and check their balance.

With more than 4,000 branches now offering services seven days a week, we’re making sure our network of 11,500 branches can remain at the heart of communities across the United Kingdom. Martin Kearsley
