1 Files from the front row

-

It was a steep climb through the National Portrait gallery (closed, controversially, for the occasion) to find our seats at the Erdem show, which trailed through painting-lined rooms. Those of us in the teal room found ourselves directly opposite the second most stylish front row of the week (after the Queen at Richard Quinn).

While many designers favour social media influencers, who pose for photos before staring at their phones throughout, Moralioglu’s VIP line-up boasted actresses, supermodels and musicians – all dressed in Erdem of course. Helen Mccrory (accompanied by husband Damian Lewis) was nearly late, having made a quick wardrobechange stop on the way from the Roksanda show an hour earlier. To her left sat actresses Ruth Wilson, Felicity Jones and Anya Taylor-joy, the star of The Miniaturist was almost unrecognisable out of period costume.

The three sisters of girl band Haim were early to arrive, and posed their crystal and brocade platform-clad feet for a fan’s shoe-fie (that’s shoe selfie) as they waited. As the lights dimmed and with centuries-old aristocracy looking on from their frames, models Kristen and Lily Mcmenamy (mother and daughter) were last through the door, squeezing on to the bench beside Erin O’connor, who was on hand to help Kristen silence her phone when it rang out halfway through the show.
