Council prudery
SIR – I was annoyed to read Cllr Peter Hall’s sanctimonious reasoning as to why residents of a Dorset care home should not be allowed to watch pole dancing as part of its entertainment programme (report, February 23).
The event was essentially a gymnastic display by fit young women and definitely not a sleazy spectacle – as evidenced by the costumes worn by the participants. The residents enjoyed it and that is all that should matter.
Next, perhaps Mr Hall will be banning gymnastics or swimming because the costumes are skimpy, and wanting to put covers on piano legs. Paul Welsh
