Man took revenge on ex-wife by sharing explicit images

-

A HUSBAND uploaded scores of revenge porn images of his ex-wife to a social media site to get back at her after their divorce, a court has heard.

The man uploaded 65 explicit photos of his wife to the social media site Tumblr after their 18-year marriage ended.

A court heard the images had been shared thousands of times by other users of the website, meaning it was impossible for them to be completely erased after they were found.

Salisbury magistrates’ court, Wilts, heard the couple had split, with her taking their three children to Yorkshire where she is from, meaning it was difficult for him to see his daughters.

The 48-year-old decided to share the 65 pornographic images of his wife, which the couple had taken together in the early 2000s, online to get back at her for leaving. His ex-wife said there had been an agreement after they split that the pictures should be deleted, but he denied this had been the case.

In a statement, the victim said: “I feel embarrassed, humiliated, ashamed, cheap and very upset. [Because the pictures cannot be completely deleted], this nightmare will never end. I have had to tell my family about the images, which I felt embarrassment and shame doing. I loathe what he has done.”

The court heard the victim had also had to give up her job as she was scared people would see the images and recognise her.

Defending, Trevor Line said the man, a psychiatric nurse, had been suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder after being attacked at work. He said that his client had felt “very, very alone” when he uploaded the images.

The man admitted disclosing private sexual photographs with intent to cause distress.
