Mrs May’s musical side
SIR – Ivan Hewett , writing about the conductor Robin Ticciati (Arts, March 22), mentions that in Berlin, where Ticciati has been appointed principal conductor of the Deutsches Symphonie-orchester, “the Mayor and Angela Merkel often come to the Philharmonie to hear concerts”. Mr Hewett then says: “Consider the unlikely prospect of seeing Theresa May in thrall to the London Philharmonic at the Royal Festival Hall.”
He is wrong on that account. Our Prime Minister is a huge supporter of the arts and has been to the Festival Hall on several occasions over the past couple of years to listen to the outstanding London Philharmonic Orchestra. How do I know? Because I invited her.
I would recommend your readers follow the PM’S excellent example. Christopher Fraser
