Saving the best until last, This Country ends with a gut-puncher of a final episode. We all know that Kerry’s (Daisy Cooper) weak spot is her horrible father Martin (played by Cooper’s actual father, Paul), and tonight makes it abundantly clear how destructive this could be when Kerry gets involved in one of Martin’s dodgy deals. Everything unravels pretty swiftly, to the horror of Kurtan (the brilliant Charlie Cooper), who is both worried for Kerry and terrified he’ll lose his new job at the Bowling Club. The final moments provide a small masterclass in making an audience simultaneously laugh and cry. A magnificent series.
