For the latest step on Jacob Rees-mogg’s journey towards world domination, he picks up the headphones and this morning begins a fortnightly radio slot taking listeners’ calls during a half-hour phone-in on Nick Ferrari’s breakfast show. The new regular feature builds on Rees-mogg’s previous entertaining and sometimes provocative radio appearances, of which he has said that “the good sense and wisdom of the callers has educated, informed and challenged me while furthering polite political discourse”. He has a marvellous voice for it, too.

And so to the amazing rise of “Escape Rooms”, physical adventure games where a group of friends pay to be locked inside a room and attempt to solve a series of riddles within a time limit in order to get out. There are now around 1,000 of these game sites around the UK.
