Amber Rudd announces a specialist team to help Windrush citizens and a new hotline. She also promises nobody will be deported.

Amber Rudd tells a committee that the Home Office does not use targets to remove people from the UK. It later emerges Philip Hammond alerted the Home Office and Downing Street to Windrush concerns.

The Home Secretary apologises to MPS and admits her department did use targets for voluntary removals, but she was not aware of them.
Fri April 27
A leaked memo reveals the Home Secretary was made aware of targets for deportations in June 2017.

Michael Gove, the Environment Secretary, launches an impassioned defence of Ms Rudd.
Sun April 29
The former immigration minister Brandon Lewis admits Ms Rudd was aware of an “ambition” to increase removals. A leaked letter to the Prime Minister in January 2017 emerges and shows she set out plans to increase migrant removals by 10 per cent. No 10 announces her resignation.
