Cricket chiefs may toss away home advantage
An immutable part of cricket could soon be scrapped, as the game’s governors consider ditching the toss in Tests. The International Cricket Council is looking at ways to address home advantage – away series victories having become a rare event – and will discuss scrapping the toss to prevent countries doctoring pitches. It would mean Australia being given the choice of either batting or bowling first when they next tour England for the Ashes. Sport, page 12
