Delete social media, Tory candidates told

- By Christopher Hope

TORY candidates have been urged to delete social media accounts to stop them being exploited by opponents.

Kemi Badenoch MP, the party’s vice-chairman in charge of candidates, has written to warn them that their social media accounts are “fair game”. Ms Badenoch also told Chopper’s Brexit Podcast that it was not “bad advice” for candidates to delete their social media history as soon as they were selected.

She added: “People can get carried away and you can look at a conversation. It can be taken out of context.”

Ms Badenoch said that she did not want to lose people with “valuable experience” because of social media. Chopper’s Brexit Podcast is available on the Telegraph website and on itunes from 6am today.
