Landlords fall foul of immigration crackdown
Landlords have been issued with more than 400 fines under a government crackdown on illegal immigration.
As of the end of March, 405 financial penalties totalling £265,000 had been handed out since the introduction of the Right to Rent scheme across England just over two years ago.
Right to Rent requires landlords to establish whether tenants have a legal right to be in the country. Hundreds of fines have been issued but a report said there had been no prosecutions.
