Canadian police hunt restaurant bombers

- By Rozina Sabur

CANADIAN police were yesterday hunting for two men who set off a homemade bomb in an Indian restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario, injuring 15 people.

Police have not identified a motive for the Thursday night attack. They released footage of the two suspects entering the Bombay Bhel restaurant with an object resembling a paint can, moments before the bomb went off.

“Nothing was said by these individuals,” said Peel regional sergeant Matt Bertram. “It appears they just went in, dropped off this device and took off.”

There were two separate family parties happening in the restaurant at the time of the attack.

Three of those hurt had what were described as “critical blast injuries”.

Peel regional police chief Jennifer Evans said: “There is no indication that this is a terrorism act … we haven’t ruled anything out as we start our investigation.”
