One of Britain’s oldest rapists jailed at 92

 A 92-year-old man has become one of Britain’s oldest convicted rapists after he was jailed for 14 years.

Enoch Winchurch was yesterday found guilty of raping two women more than 40 years ago.

The pensioner shouted from the dock that the allegations were “lies” as he was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court. Jurors found Winchurch, who struggles to walk and is said to be in poor health, guilty of one allegation of rape, one of attempted rape, six charges of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child.

The allegations dated back more than 40 years and because Winchurch decided to plead not guilty, both women had to give evidence during his trial.
