Young Disney fans shown horror film trailer
Children clicking on videos related to the popular animated film Frozen were shown a five-second trailer of the horror film Insidious on Youtube.
The Advertising Standards Authority censured Columbia Pictures for failing to prevent its trailer – of a woman being hurled backwards by an unseen force and then screaming as a creature probed at her throat – being targeted at the young audience.
Columbia said its agency provided keywords for its trailer that passed the advert approval system on Youtube, but Youtube told the ASA that advertisers administered their own campaigns and were responsible for appropriate targeting and compliance.
