Worse than popcorn
SIR – Stars of the musical Titanic have spoken out in protest at the behaviour of audiences, after two women spent a critical part of the show watching England’s World Cup penalty shootout on their mobile phones (report, July 6).
We are regular cinemagoers. When the lights go down, the audience used to remain quiet. Not so these days, when it is more usual for people to keep chatting loudly through ads and trailers. We think this behaviour is more common among those who have the television on all day – even when no one is watching it. Elizabeth Simpson
