US shrugs off trade fears with strong jobs growth

-

The US added more jobs than expected in June, despite concerns that Donald Trump’s tariff dispute with its allies and China could hamper economic growth. A total of 213,000 jobs were added last month, of which 36,000 were in manufacturing, while wage growth held steady month on month, rising 2.7pc when compared to 2017. The Federal Reserve this week said it was expecting to keep raising interest rates, due to “very strong” economic indicators, though said the escalating trade war could prove a risk.
