Prison worker arrested after drugs investigation
A female prison worker has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class-a drugs following a three-month corruption inquiry.
The woman, in her 30s, was also suspected of misconduct in a public office at HMP Hindley in Wigan, Greater Manchester Police said.
Sections of the prison, an address in Golborne, Wigan, and a vehicle were all searched, a police spokesman said.
“[The officer] remained in custody for questioning last night,” the spokesman added.
