Sadler’s Wells worker stole £20k from theatre

♦ A Sadler’s Wells ticket manager admitted stealing £20,000 from the theatre to pay off his mortgage.

Bruce Moore, 53, pleaded guilty to theft but was spared jail after Judge Ian Darling said it was a “tragedy” he was in the dock.

Aimee Emby, prosecuting, said Moore transferred money from the registered charity to his own account while pretending he was making ticket refunds at the London venue.

His deception was uncovered after the theatre’s accounts were suspended after suspicion of fraudulent activity.

He was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, community service and told he must repay the money within one year.
