‘Mrs Cameron’s favourite artist’ admits assaulting girlfriend

-

A graffiti artist whose work was given to Barack Obama by David Cameron during a state visit has admitted punching his girlfriend during a row at an art gallery.

Benjamin Flynn, 47, known as Ben Eine, left Maria Claudine bloodied after an argument broke out at a private exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery, London.

Twice-married Flynn, who has seven children, broke Ms Claudine’s glasses and threw her mobile phone on to the floor during the incident last month, Westminster magistrates’ court heard.

Sentencing was adjourned until July 17 and Flynn was granted bail. He was told not to contact Ms Claudine.

Flynn, believed to be a close friend of street artist Banksy, was catapulted to fame in 2010 when David Cameron, the then prime minister, gave one of his works, Twenty First Century City, to President Obama on a visit to Washington.

Flynn, who was described as Mr Cameron’s wife Samantha’s favourite artist, said at the time that he was “completely amazed”.
