England’s three fatal errors

-

Kane fluffs his lines

England had a glorious chance to make it 2-0 but Harry Kane fluffed his lines, first firing at Daniel Subasic and then hitting the post from close range when it seemed easier to score.

Walker slow to react

Kyle Walker was caught out for Croatia’s equaliser. Perhaps unaware of Ivan Perisic making ground behind him he tried to head a cross clear, with the Croat nipping in to flick home.

Stones switches off

The otherwise impeccable John Stones was at fault for the winner, failing to react to a simple flick-on and allowing Mario Mandzukic to fire past Jordan Pickford.
