You knew England were at the business end of a tournament when Uri Geller started getting involved. The magician (if that is the word) decided that the number 11 had “astonishing significance” for their hopes and that everyone should touch their TV 11 minutes before kick-off. Gareth Southgate’s new methods surely did not stretch that far.
