Climber rescued from New Zealand mountain
An Australian climber has been rescued from a mountain in New Zealand where he had been trapped in freezing temperatures for three days.
Terry Harch, 29, had been on a solo climb of Mount Aspiring in the South Island, when he triggered a satellite tracker device on Tuesday. He was found alive on the 3,033m (9,951ft) peak on Thursday, suffering from “slight frostbite”, but poor weather delayed his rescue until yesterday.
“It’s a great result,” said Neville Blakemore, an official of New Zealand’s Rescue Coordination Centre.
