Work is close to home for third of young

-

 Young people are more likely than their parents to get their first job close to home, according to new research.

Almost a third of 18 to 24-year-olds were said to be looking for their initial career move to be within five miles of where they live, more than twice the number of their parents’ generation. The Co-op said its study of 2,000 adults showed that older generations were prepared to travel much further to get work. The costs of transport and renting a house are likely to be behind the trend, said the Co-op. Technology also meant young people can work away from a traditional workplace.
