The Mayor of Richmond, Jonathan Preece, wades into the River Swale, marking the boundary of Richmond in North Yorkshire, during the Beating of the Bounds ceremony, which takes place every seven years. The tradition dates back to the Royal Charter given to the town by Elizabeth I in 1576.
