BBC Proms 2018: Prom 70 – Tango Prom

Music doesn’t come much steamier than this, and tonight’s tango-themed Prom should be the perfect farewell to a long, hot summer. Grammy Awardwinning Argentine pianist Pablo Ziegler is the star performer, joined by fellow virtuosi on bandoneon, guitar, double bass and drums, as well as the Britten Sinfonia conducted by Clark Rundell. They tell the story of tango from its origins in the bars of Buenos Aires in the 1880s right through to modern Finnish tango and its themes of love, sorrow and nature.
