Police find body in river in search for student
Police searching for a student missing from Worcester yesterday found a body in the River Severn.
Thomas Jones, 18, a fresher at the University of Worcester, disappeared nine days ago on September 19.
West Mercia Police tweeted that a body had been found in the River Severn and that while formal identification had yet to take place, Thomas’s next of kin have been informed.
Two men were previously arrested on suspicion of murder but were released without charge on Tuesday.
Hundreds of volunteers have helped in the search for the teenager, who was thought to have been walking on the footpath along the top of the flood defences on Hylton Road towards Hallow just before 3.50am.
