Plans to prevent repeat of falling letters debacle
THE Conservative party has dropped magnetic letters from its conference backdrop for this weekend after they began to fall off midway through Theresa May’s keynote speech last year.
Party chiefs were embarrassed when a letter “F” fell from the slogan behind the Prime Minister towards the end of her 2017 speech. More letters fell after the speech ended, turning “BUILDING A COUNTRY THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE” into “BU DING A C NTRY THA ORKS OR RYON”.
This year, the conference slogan in Birmingham will be projected or glued to a hard surface, sources said.
Mrs May also had a coughing fit and was handed a fake P45 during her 2017 speech.
