Dianne and I aren’t an item – I’m focusing on dancing

The Youtube star on Craig’s comments, Hallowe’en fever and his relationship with Dianne

Iheard about the news of Dianne’s break-up, but I know it’s her personal life and I don’t want to get too involved in that. All I can do is be there for her and be a supportive friend as she is very supporting of me and the work we do together. Contrary to recent reports, me and Dianne aren’t in a relationship. I’m focusing on the show.

Things got a bit hairy last week but I was happy with my waltz. It was wobbly in rehearsals, but went well on the night. Both my grandmothers gave it a thumbs-up. They’re the most important judges of all!

Craig Revel Horwood said the log I was sitting on had more expression, but it’s part of his shtick to come out with soundbites, so I don’t take them to heart. He also said I was one to watch, so at least he ended on a nice note. Shirley Ballas said I’m becoming a ballroom gentleman, which was what I was aiming for – especially as we’ve got another ballroom this week.

It’s a foxtrot and I think it’s even better. I haven’t been wearing my posture harness in training this time – partly because I saw some footage and decided it wasn’t a good look! My toenails have been given me trouble, though. It’s those pesky shoes.

We’re dancing to Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer, which I love, and because it’s the Hallowe’en special, I’m playing a vampire. I’m hoping to wear proper ballroom tails but as Dracula. I love Hallowe’en – more than my birthday, usually. It’s always a fun night, with trick-or-treating and fancydress parties. Everyone would assume the scariest Strictly judge is Craig but for me, it’s the person I don’t want to let down the most. That would be Darcey Bussell. It would hurt more to get negative comments from her.

We missed Bruno Tonioli last weekend but Alfonso Ribiero was great as guest judge. I was a fan of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air growing up and Carlton was my favourite character, so it was exciting to have him there. I was hoping to get a selfie with him but as so often happens, I came over all shy and didn’t grab my chance.

I was delighted Danny John-jules got the first 10 for his jive. He deserved it more than anyone because he works so hard and has really raised the bar. It was a shame to see Vick Hope knocked out, as she brought so much positivity to the show. There were headlines about her implying the decision was a fix but I took that with a pinch of salt. I imagine it was taken out of context. Knowing Vick, I doubt she said it in the way it’s been interpreted.

Anyway, I’m grateful to make it to another theme week. Blackpool’s the next milestone. Fingers crossed.
