Strictly judges give Walsh and Jones’s waltz a kiss goodbye

- By Helena Horton

SEANN WALSH and Katya Jones were voted off Strictly Come Dancing last night, three weeks after causing controversy by being caught in a passionate embrace outside a pub.

Walsh, 32, a comedian, and his professional dance partner, 29, both had partners when they were photographed kissing.

Jones’s husband Neil is also a professional dancer on Strictly, and the couple appear to have remained together, but Walsh’s former partner Rebecca Humphries publicly broke up with him and accused him of abusive behaviour, which he denied.

It was expected they would be voted off the week after the scandal broke, but it appeared not to have affected their progress. Last week they ended up in the bottom two but survived the dance-off. However, their Hallowe’ enthemed Viennese waltz on Saturday night failed to impress the public or the judges, all four of whom chose to save cricketer Graeme Swann.

Craig Revel Horwood was particularly unmoved by their “crazy toymaker” waltz. He gave them just three points, and said: “I think he’ll find himself in the dance-off again. There were timing issues everywhere. I felt like you weren’t hearing the music. Not your one, I’m afraid.”

After being voted off, the two said their favourite dance was their Matrix routine, which took place the weekend the kissing scandal broke.

Walsh said: “I’m very upset and I’m gutted that I didn’t get to live up to what Katya set out. She’s such an amazing choreographer. I feel like we were just a week or so away from me nailing something absolutely spectacular that she would have come up with.”
