Jewellery burglar found asleep with the evidence
A BURGLAR has been jailed for seven years after police caught him asleep on a sofa hugging a haul of stolen jewellery.
Anthony Foord, 39, of no fixed abode, had raided a home in Folkestone, Kent, stealing the jewellery box and 180 items including watches and earrings.
Foord raided the home on May 5 this year before making his escape, but detectives found his DNA on a bottle left at the scene.
Officers raided a home in Folkestone three days after the burglary on receiving a tip-off that Foord was staying there – and found him holding the jewellery box as he slept on the sofa.
Foord denied any involvement in the break-in and told officers he couldn’t explain where all the goods had come from.
But a jury found him guilty of burglary at Canterbury Crown Court.
