People of colour chart

SIR – Steve Willis (Letters, November 8) asks what the distinction is between “people of colour” and “coloured people”. My fallback position is to refer to the Farrow & Ball colour chart.

With my own grubby complexion falling somewhere between Setting Plaster and Dead Salmon, I am now self identifying as Setting Salmon. My wife, who is of paler Scottish descent and a mix of Pink Ground and Elephant’s Breath, is less enthusiastic about this approach.
